Privacy Policy

Last updated 12 August 2026

This covers the Scholar Heist web app at app.scholarheist.com and the “Save the Ad” browser extension. Both are operated by Digital Scholar. We keep this short and specific: everything listed below is something the product actually stores, and nothing is collected that is not named here.

What we collect

Your email addressYou sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. We store the address and a hashed record of the code while it is valid. We do not store passwords for code-based sign-in.
Your boards and saved adsAds you save — the image or video, the ad copy, and the platform metadata shown publicly on the ad — are stored against your account so your boards persist. Media is copied to our server because the source platforms' links expire within hours.
Brand kits you createThe colours, fonts, logo, mission and voice notes you enter, stored against your account so they apply to what you build.
How you use the vaultWhich creatives you view, open, copy or hide, so the feed can be ordered around what you actually like. Tied to your account when signed in, or to a random identifier stored in your browser when not.
PurchasesPayments are handled by Razorpay. We store the order and payment identifiers and what you bought. We never see or store your card details.
Server logsStandard web-server records of requests, including IP address, kept for security and debugging.

What the browser extension does

The extension adds a save button to public ad libraries — the Meta Ad Library, the TikTok Creative Center, the LinkedIn Ad Library, the Google Ads Transparency Center and Pinterest’s Ads Repository, including sponsored pins shown in the regular Pinterest feed. From the toolbar button you can also capture an ad that is visible on another page. Either way, the ad on screen is sent to your Scholar Heist account and added to a board you choose.

  • Its page scripts run only on those ad-library pages and on Pinterest. On any other site it can see the page only when you click the extension's button to capture an ad there — a temporary, per-click permission the browser grants for that one tab, which ends when the capture does.
  • It sends an ad only when you click save. It does not watch, scrape or transmit browsing in the background.
  • It signs in using the same session cookie as the website. It stores no password and no access token of its own.
  • It keeps a small local cache in your browser — your board names and your last five saves — purely so the popup opens instantly. Signing out clears it.
  • It does not use analytics, advertising or tracking libraries of any kind.

What we never do

  • We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
  • We do not use your saved ads or brand kits to train models.
  • If you connect your own AI provider key for image generation, that key stays in your browser. It is sent with the request you triggered and is never written to our database or our logs.

Who else can see it

Only the services needed to run the product: our hosting provider, which stores the database and media; Razorpay, which processes payments; and our email provider, which delivers your sign-in codes. Each receives only what its job requires. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Account data and your saved work are kept while your account exists. Sign-in codes expire within ten minutes. Ask us to delete your account and we remove your account record, boards, saved ads and brand kits; we may retain payment records where tax or accounting law requires it.

Your choices

You can delete any board, saved ad or brand kit from inside the app at any time. To request a copy of your data or have your account deleted, email us and we will action it. Removing the extension from your browser stops it entirely and clears its local cache; it does not delete your account.

Children

Scholar Heist is a tool for marketers and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects how your data is used, tell you in the app.
